If you look closely you can see that every once in a while I mixed in a printed fabric, but most of the fabric started off white. To get the full spectrum, I spent a few days in my art room mixing up Rit dye and soaking and drying fabric to get the many hues and tones I needed. After the dying, I sorted the fabric in color order and got to work making the thousands of gathered strips.
